John Fleeger, smooth rifle, 1840-1850
A rather unusual Western Pennsylvania Smooth rifle by noted maker John Fleeger. Fleeger is most noted for his exceptional engraving and ornate rifles made in the Pittsburgh area. This gun is stamped J. Fleeger, Allegeny, and was apparently built as a utilitarian gun for less affluent customers. The gun has a charming brass wrap to repair a wrist break. The wrist is solid and stable, and I feel that the repair is part of the history of this gun. $1,400 + S&H.
